Booting Linux would also be an option but I would avoid Ubuntu recent multilib debacle instead picking Pop! All the options we have are pretty difficult - Apple was pretty throughout with removing 32bit support.
What's left is virtualization and emulation, and integrating that is a PITA. And that takes time and a lot of effort. Not to mention getting the performance right If we could load a new GDT Would still require tons of thunking though. If I'm not mistaken, that would allow us to run 32Bit code without needing emulation or virtualization. DarkShadow44 wrote: I don't know about that, where'd you hear this?
How does this address the conversion of structures inside the thunks? I upgraded yesterday to Catalina beta version and wine stopped working. My MT4 trading platform, especially algos, have stopped working. But I have no idea how the legal status of that is, virtualizing macOS is not what they want.
DarkShadow44 wrote: Welp, running a VM should work as well. Do y'all believe Wine will be ready for Catalina when it is released? I'm follow this topic and I would like to know if there is any update about it Thank you!
I can confirm it works as well. My launcher was the old launcher, not the new one. Performance seems to be about equal to what it was before, if not a little better, but I only played around for a few minutes before heading to work this morning.

The MacBook Pro comes only with integrated graphics.
I've run WoW on integrated graphics on an older MBP and while it wasn't great, it was at least passable. As you can see in the screenshot my MBP does have discrete graphics. But the AMD Radeon isn't actually a beast. And it's very thermally constrained. It's frustrating; on the one hand I don't want my machine revving its fans all the time, particularly in public, but on the other hand I'd like to have an option for better performance. At this point the biggest reason I keep with Apple products is that they hold up to my heavy use better than the Windows laptops I used prior, plus I have some degree of buy-in to their ecosystem.
When I was in classes, having a POSIX-compliant system that didn't require some amount of config file incantations to keep wireless networking was a big plus, but nowadays Microsoft has a pretty decent Linux subsystem, so that point is gone. I suppose I'll just have to make peace with the fact that Apple really isn't targeting my computing needs anymore, which is mildly irritating.
But I don't think it'll last. Apple has made clear their primary focus are the customers signing up for all their services; they're no longer interested in building powerful laptops anymore. I have a Hackintosh, running Vega 64 and an ik. WoW runs with a constant FPS no problem. FFXIV is just about unplayable. I have great performance on games made natively for macOS with metal.
